Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does Medicare pay for a nursing home stay?

Medicare pays only for short term skilled nursing care.  If, a resident has a three day qualifying hospital stay and requires skilled services, Medicare will pay 100% for the first 20 days in a skilled nursing facility. Beginning on day 21 and up through day 100, the patient is responsible for the daily co-insurance, which is set by Medicare.

Skilled Nursing Medicare benefits are exhausted at 100 days or sooner, if the resident no longer requires a skilled service.  Medicare does not pay for long term care.

  • Do you have a Medical Doctor on staff and how often are the resident’s seen by the Physician?

The resident’s personal physician is encouraged to continue providing care when a resident is admitted.  However, if that is not possible, our Medical Director will assume their care.

Physician’s visits are regulated by state and federal guidelines and as individual needs dictate.

  • What are the visiting hours?

Our visiting hours are open; however, we request that consideration be given to the residents, especially in the early morning hours and late evening.

  • Can personal furniture be brought into the resident’s room?

Personal furniture is allowed as long as it does not restrict cleaning and exit from the room in case of an emergency.

  • Are resident’s pets allowed to visit?

We provide scheduled pet therapy visits on a regular basis.  Personal pets are allowed as long as they are, on a leash and vaccines are up to date.
