Mr. Charles E. Carter founded South Roanoke Nursing Home in
1962 after reading several articles about long term care facilities.
He felt the concept was important and needed in the Roanoke Valley.
A partnership was developed, plans were drawn and in September
of 1964, South Roanoke Nursing Home was established.
Noted as being the first modern facility of its kind in the
Roanoke Valley, South Roanoke Nursing Home has fostered a lasting
relationship with the Roanoke Valley by providing quality nursing
care and rehabilitation. Not only has South Roanoke Nursing Home
built meaningful relationships with the surrounding community,
but with its employees, as evidenced by 481 total years of service
from its staff and 24 employees with 10 years of service or more.
